Timelines
A timeline is a named, chronological log. Each one lives in the sidebar and holds a series of entries in time order. Think of one timeline per topic: a client, a project, a person, a recurring theme.
Creating a timeline
Press New Timeline at the top of the sidebar, type a name, and it opens ready for your first entry. Every new timeline begins with a Timeline Start marker so there's always a clear beginning.
Renaming, tagging, and deleting
Each timeline has a ⋮ menu in the sidebar:
- Rename — change the name at any time.
- Tags — add or remove tags to group and filter timelines.
- Delete — remove the timeline and all its entries.
WARNING
Deleting a timeline removes its entries and their attachments. There's no undo — keep an export if you might want it back.
Finding the right timeline
- Scroll the sidebar — timelines are listed there, and you can filter them by tag.
- Search — use the search box in the header to jump to any timeline or entry by its content. See Tags & search.
How many timelines should I have?
Whatever keeps each log readable. A few rules of thumb:
- One active concern per timeline (a deal, a project, a trip).
- Use tags instead of splitting hairs — e.g. tag several client timelines with
clientrather than nesting them. - It's fine to have lots of small timelines; the sidebar filter and search keep them manageable.
